set the rollers in tight...spray your ';set'; hair with a spritz or a tight hold spray, either blow dry or place a plastic shower cap over your hair for 3-5 hours...hope i answered your question! How do i get curly hair with hair rollers?
I tried for years with various types and brands of rollers to get a lasting curl in my fine, straight hair with varying degrees of sucess.

Finally I found the best way of curling hair last year and it was very unexpected... my hairdresser taught me how to use GHD (have to be GHDs as they are only ones hot enough) straighteners to curl my hair. It sounds odd but it works so much better, takes less time to do and lasts a lot longer too so I really recommend checking out the GHD website for a video demo and then buying some GHDs. Theyre not cheap but after 10 years of trying to curl my hair this is by far the best method for me!
You should probably have your hair wet when putting the rollers on. Roll a small section (depending on the size of the roller) tightly around the roller and pin it in place. Make sure its secure. Do this to your whole hair (or just the amount you want) and dry your hair. It would be best to do this overnight, but you could also do it for a few hours (2 or more)
wash/ wet your hair.

then put your hair in sections, the number depends on how much hair you have'

put in the rollers by putting the roller at the end of your hair and roll up. depending on what kind of roller you have either pin or clip it in place and wait for it to dry.

put in some spray, so that it will be easier to keep in place for longer than 3hours
Get them hot. Roll them up in your dry hair. Put the big ones on the bottom closer to your neck and the smaller ones on top. Spray a TON of hair spray. I prefer an aerosol can like Aqua Net. Sleep with them like that. In the morning, take them out and separate the curls to your liking. Should stay that way til you wash your hair again.
You need to get a thermal active spray to hold the curls together. Biolage makes one that works. Once the heats hits it, it activates and it holds pretty well. Hairspray too, but that will wear out... go to a beauty supply store and ask what they have/recommend.
Yooh can use the rollers.. But while they are in your hair use spritz!

It will help your hair stay curly!

If your hair is thick yooh may want to spray alot!!
If your hair is so straight you may need a permanent to have lasting curls. Don't try to give your self one unless you really know what your doing. You can burn your hair to the point having it fall out. I don't want to scare you but There are side effects with everything.

Now back to hair rollers. The size of the roller will determine the size of the wave. The smaller the roller the tighter the curl. Of course with long hair you can run into problems there too.

If you haven't used rollers before, you might want to have your hair done once in a beauty shop. Watch how your operator does it. That will give you a clue. Do you have any girlfriends that do their hair. They would be a god send.

You might also try on some wigs to see how you would look.

I hope this helps.
