I have been trying to curl my hair for a long time because I'm in a long-running performance and I usually curl it with steam rollers and it last for MAYBE, if I'm lucky, 45 minutes. Is there anyway I can curl my hair and make it last? any tips would be thoroughly appreciated. thanks! How can I make my hair curl? It never stays?
I had to curl my hair when I was cast in the ballet, The Nutcracker, around Christmas. You can try a couple of things, these are the methods that I find work best:
1) Curl a piece of hair with a curling iron. Wrap the piece of hair that you just curled in a foam roller, rolling it tight against your head. Repeat this for the rest of your hair. Once all the curlers are in place, tight against your head, lightly hairspray your whole head, wrap the curlers in either a hair net or a fabric shower cap and sleep with the curlers in (it's not too uncomfortable, actually). Use bobby pins or hair clips to secure the hair cover while you sleep. Leave in the curls and the hair net/shower cap until about 10 or 15 minutes before the show starts. Remove the hair net. Take each curl out one by one, hairspray each individual curl, then twirl the curl around your finger. Repeat this for all the curls, then hairspray your whole head.
2) Spray your hair with water so that it's slightly damp. You might want to have someone help you with this next part- take a thin strip of cloth as long as your hair and wind the hair and the cloth together VERY tightly. Then wrap the piece cloth/hair around itself and tie the cloth ends together, so you end up with a small dangling bun of cloth and hair. Repeat this with the rest of your hair. Lightly hairspray your whole head, and wrap all the curls in either a hair net or a fabric shower cap, securing it with either bobby pins or hair clips. Leave it in overnight while you sleep. Leave it in the next morning until about 10 or 15 minutes before the show. Remove the hair net or shower cap, un-knot the fabric strips, and remove them. Hairspray each individual curl and twirl it around your finger. Repeat for all the curls on your head. Once all the curls are out, hairspray your entire head.
If you find that a couple curls come un-done, you can always re-curl them with a curling iron during intermission.
You can find the fabric shower cap (which I find works better than a hair net) in any drugstore, nest to the hair nets and bobby pins and things like that.
The real key with getting great curls is the finding the right hairspray. I always use Freeze-It 24-Hour Hold (which can be found in any drugstore). It has a really great hold and brushes out easily. You'll need a lot of it, so buy the BIG can.
Hope this helps.

My hair is simalar and I have to get someone else to do it then spray hair spray on it. -Good Luck!
okay, do you let it curl naturally, or do you curl it with a curling iron?
If you curl it naturally:
1. Use mousse, and make sure you get it close to the roots.
2. Aerosol hairspray (back to basics, firm hold)
3. when it dries, put a bit more aerosol hairspray.
If you curl it with a curling iron:
1. Use MATRIX sleek look iron protector (or some other iron protector), and apply it all over you head before curling.
2. Before you curl a piece, put some regular hairspray (like aussie, not aerosol) on that piece, and then curl... trust me, after you do that, it won't fall out!!
3. Spray the whole head with aerosol after you are done curling!
HOPE I HELPEDDD (:
well you can use curl machine like an Straightner. it won't stay for ever. you can try to curl once a weel it might stay.
I got an AMAZING curling iron in the mall which did wonders for my hair. It keeps it curly all day long. You can buy one on this website: http://www.californiahairproducts.com/ginallimilano.html
It is expensive, like $115, but I don't regret buying mine (I paid $200 for mine). I have the pink one called the ';Ginalli Milano 19mm Cylinder Curling Iron.';
