Good way to curl my hair with sponge rollers?

I bought sponge rollers today because my hair is naturally straight with a slight wave but it usually just looks messy if I leave it like that. I don't want my hair to be really curly, just have a bit more of a wave to add more style...any ideas on how I can do it?Good way to curl my hair with sponge rollers?
Hi,

You can achieve curls with sponge rollers, the curls wont last all day but the wave and body should, if treated properly. If you can get a firm hold mouse and apply to your hair prior to putting them in curlers, the curls will have more body and wont make you look like Shirley Temple! Put the curlers in damp hair and dry with a hairdryer. Make sure the hair is totally dry or the curls will just drop straight out. I'd recommend leave them in over night or atleast 2 hours.

When you takle the curlers out, be warned, it'll be REALLY curly! You'll then need to ';finger'; comb through, this will loosen the curls to a nice wave. Then get a firm spritz gel spray. I use Tigi products, from the hairdressers, but a cheaper version from Boots will do.Good way to curl my hair with sponge rollers?
why not use a curling iron instead? Bu you can set your hair in these, sleep on them (Ugh) and it shoulld hold a curl in the AM with some hairspray.
The plastic rollers were your best bet. the sponge rollers absorbs the natural oil from your hair causing your hair to dry out and break off. Also your hair gets tangled in the sponge rollers.

I sleep in the large plastic rollers, and you have to place them evenly to sleep on them. I use 45 large rollers every night and I have no problem with them.
Be carful with sponge rollers. They were once mad with fiberglass... I am not sure if they still are. Fiberglass is very bad for the hair it causes breakage adn split ends. If you use them make sure to use roller paper with them. I would just try another roller all together. I suggest using a plastic roller...anywehre between 2-4 inches in diameter/width. And use them with either a columizing mousse or liquid spray or foaming setting setting lotion.
i hate to say this but sponge rollers are not the way to go to acheive the look you want. what you'll need is a set of hot curlers. heat them up, put some volumizing mouse in your hair and then curl using the biggest rollers for the bulk of your hair and the smaller ones for the hair that frames your face.

another option are the big plastic rollers. the focus here is on BIG, as this will give you the waves withouth curling and will also keep you hair looking sleek.
