It's of medium texture, not coarse but not super soft either. It's cut into a sort of shag that's layered all different lengths all over with the shortest layer at my chin. For some reason, it doesn't hold a curl. I have tried curling irons, hot rollers, regular rollers, putting it up in little buns, curling it when it's not washed, all to no avail. When I use a curling iron I spray it with good quality hairspray first and then curl it (I've tried all different sized barrel curling irons). I get a decent curl for about two minutes and the it starts falling out until I just get sort of a weird flip at the end. In the mean time I don't touch it or anything, it just does it by itself. I've tried both rolling my hair with the curling iron and winding my hair around the barrel. Both produce the same result. I've also tried using a flat iron to curl it with worse results than the curling iron.

Same thing with any kind of rollers, even if I sleep in them.

I scrunch my hair to bring out the waves all the time but this gives more of a messy wavy look than a good curl. (By the way, for some reason with me, scrunching my hair with a diffuser makes the wave fall out rather than adding to it. Anyone know why that is?)

Anyone know why this is? Or good ways to curl stubborn hair lol :)How to get my hair to hold a curl?
after you wet your hair , let your hair dry.....get a small section of hair at a time and use a curling iron, curl your hair then use a grandma roller and put it up, do that with the hole hair ...you can get those rolling curl at sally beaty supply, but don't get the smooth one ok, that don't hold your hair every good...hope it work for you..Roberthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13589937692589531822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2605969887444939019.post-86274910899502690532010-08-21T01:33:00.000-07:002010-08-21T01:33:13.613-07:00How do I thickin African American hair?have fine African American hair and I can't wash my hair. If the curls are too tight, diffuse a little to loosen up the curls....(diffuse=attachement on blow dryer)Curling hair question!?
Rollers can be a dangerous thing ;) If you do them incorrectly you can turn your hair into a giant poof ball. (I've done this, but I was experimenting, it wasn't pretty.) Would you want natural beachy waves, or more formal waves? Like curls? For beachy curls get a curling iron (Conair has some good ones for cheap) and wrap the hair around the barrel, inside of the clamp. It looks more natural that way. For more formal curls, take 1'; sections and curl the hair backwards! Forwards looks quite silly.

However, when curlers are used correctly, they are a lot faster in the morning if you do them the night before. I always add a little mousse after unrolling them but i have hair that doesn't like to keep a curl.
hair rollers are impossible to sleep with even the night ones ,the best thing is wash and towel dry your hair using a small amount of mouse put in rollers and continue to having your breakfast and what ever needs doing and hopefully they will have been in long enough to give you a curl if not then heated rollers are your best option.
instead of rollers you can use a curling iron

they are so much easier!
well it all depends on your hair type and what type of curl you ar trying to achieve.. for african americans they do provide a tight curl that does need to be fluffed out and usually last longer. but the type of hair is really best to know to answer this ?..... generally if you wanted spirally curls, use flex rod and wet set it, for light bouncy curls i would use steam rollers and leave them in overnight and it also depends on the length of your hair that will determine how big the actual roller and size of curlRoberthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13589937692589531822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2605969887444939019.post-18835867371159467262010-08-21T01:30:00.001-07:002010-08-21T01:30:18.165-07:00Help on curling my hair?i have never curled my hair with rollers (is that what they are called?) my hair is about 3 inches past shoulder length and EXTREMELY thick. i want big, relaxed curls, so what should i use? (i don't want to use a curling iron, i always burn myself, lol) thanks for all the help :) oh, and how would i even go about curling my hair with rollers in the first place? i am clueless!Help on curling my hair?
1)Wait 24 hours after washing your hair. Keeping hair oily makes it easier to stay in the curl. If you must wash it, such as if your hair gets unbearably greasy, use only a very small amount of shampoo, and do not condition it.

Make time to curl your hair. If you want your hair curly the next day, start curling it the night before. Oftentimes, curls need time to ';set.';

2) Dampen your hair. If it is thick and stubborn, make it wetter, but it shouldn't be so loaded with water that it's dripping. Use a spray bottle filled with water as it'll allow you to better control the wetness.

3) Apply a product to help hold the curl, making sure to avoid applying any on the scalp or roots because it might weigh it down too much. Mousse, gel, and hairspray are most commonly used. Try different products and brands. This step is optional, though, because some people find that they don't need products at this stage, especially if their hair has natural volume or waves.

4) Get a strand of hair.

5) Fold the roller in half.

6) Put the hair in between the roller.

7) Hold the roller up towards the ceiling and hold the top of it together, and pull the roller up to the scalp.

8) Begin wrapping the hair around the roller.

9) When you are at the end, fold the roller down so the hair will stay around the roller.

10) Apply a spritz of hairspray.

11) Leave in for a approximately 20 to 30 minutes depending on how curly you want it.

12) Unfold the end of the roller, and untwist the hair and you should have a pretty curl in your hair!

hope i could help!!Help on curling my hair?
Try the rollers you have to wear overnite they hurt but its worth it!:)
The best thing that works for me is using jumbo foam rollers..you can get them for a 1.50$ at a dollar store. wash your hair, then put them in over night..take em out in the morning and VOILA`.....

to use rollers, you take little peices of your hair and roll around foam, then shut the clip thing..its pretty self explanotory!

hope this helps!!
To get star curls, i use the revlon curling set. You can buy them at Rite Aid and other drug stores. They come in 3 sizes large, medium, and small for all areas of your hair. Comb product through your hair to distribute more evenly. clip up most of your hair and blow dry bottom section slowley, with a paddle brush. Make sure it is completly dry before letting down another section to dry. We frizzy heads now what moisture can do to our hair! continue this pattern untill all of the hair is dry. Apply a little more antifrizz serum to dry head using finger tips, again, paying close attention to the ends of your hair. Use your curling iron and iron the ends of your hair to insure sleek ends. Curl the ends in or out, thats up to you. Sounds like a task, but thats how it is with curley hair. If you stick to this routine, you will find yourself getting faster at doing your hair. It used to take me about 2-3 hours to do this in the beggining, but it only takes about 45 min- and hour now. Oh, and I have never really had much luck with rollers. So I would stick with the curling iron if I were you. Hope I helped you. Oh, and one more thing. All of this product and burning will do a number on your hair, so get trims every other month and use a face mask on your hair. Seriously a face mask. Once about every two weeks use it just like you would on your face. Your hair will feel so much healthier. Well, good luck with your hair.
I have curly hair too. I have been using herbal essance straightening shampoo and it really helps. before I blowdry my hair I use Clinique straightening serum...it doesn't leave my hair greasy like frizzease does. If I am leaving it just straight I run a ceramic flat iron over it, but if I want big loose curls I use velvet covered hot rollers in a large size. I then set it with frizz ease hair spray to fight humidity. It is easier to me to use hot rollers and then get ready while they are in, but if you want to use a curling iron I suggest a large barrel.Roberthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13589937692589531822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2605969887444939019.post-60433675168454318302010-08-21T01:29:00.001-07:002010-08-21T01:29:30.201-07:00How to curl my hair like this? (with pic)?http://www.vm-caps.com/caps/displayimage

Only problem, is I am completely unept with curling irons. Spiral curling irons, rollers, and those hot rollers are options. PLEASE HELP!How to curl my hair like this? (with pic)?
It depends on the type of hair you have but I'm going to trust your hair is naturally wavy like mine so:

1. Put a smoothing cream on your hair while it is damp.

2. Let your hair air dry (but don't lay down on it or anything while it is air-drying) let it air dry so it is naturally calm and the heat damage is at a minimum.

3. When your hair is dry, take a 1-inch barrel curling iron and curl your entire head in three sections: bottom layer of hair, middle layer of hair, and top layer. Hold the curling iron vertically and take small sections of hair and wrap them around the iron and clamp down. If your hair doesn't hold the curls well, spray your hair with hairspray WHILE the hair is in the curling iron. In the picture, the girl's hair is straight at the top and doesn't start curling until about 1/4 of the way down, so don't be afraid to start your curls at the same place. And don't be afraid to experiment with your curls either.

4. Run your fingers through your curls to separate them and smooth out your hair.

5. The girl in the picture has straight bangs, so don't be afraid to use the curling iron to straighten your own bangs.

6. Finish off by setting your hair with hair spray.

I hope this works! It really depends on the type of hair you have and how thick it is and how well it holds curl! Good luck! How to curl my hair like this? (with pic)?
one of those curling irons that have a twisty piece on it, so it makes it wavy
Rollers huh. Use setting lotion first and then go for the kill.
apply mousse or wax spray, twirl around with fingers , loosely wind sections and pin with bobby pins. Let set or blow dry on warm low setting, let cool. Take out pins loosen with fingers, spray with finishing spray.
You need a large barrel curling iron. Hold the iron straight up (vertically) and wind the hair around the barrel, leave closed for a fewextra seconds then normal, and carefully pull the iron out of curl. Spray with hairspray and loosen with your fingers.

The smaller the sections of hair , the more defined the curls. The larger the section of hair, the more chunkier. Messier the look.

I know you said your no good with curling irons, but with longer hair you're really not going to get the same look with with hot rollers.
So you feel curling irons arn;'t your thing you will have to learn to practice then specially if you want curls you can't always get the same effect with rollers. But if you use rollers use semi to medium size for this hair turning the curls as you roll into the rollers put them on your head as if they were pointing north and south instead of east and west.

Or bigger barrel curling iron and twist it around the barrel hold and let loose slowly twisting your hand as you move the barrel slowly out of the curls let the curls cool down then you will want to finger the curls slowly twisting them around your finger a bit to keep the spiral effect and loosely separate as your unraveling again doing this only with your fingers then sprits where you want it to hold
credit report

cool myspace
Roberthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13589937692589531822noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2605969887444939019.post-4792051200703006892010-08-21T01:29:00.000-07:002010-08-21T01:29:14.026-07:00How to make curls stay in my pin straight hair?I have very straight, long hair. Try using Redken spray starch or hot sets. These are both pump sprays you use on dry hair. You can spray the hair before or while heat is being applied. Spray starch works awesome, if hair is super resistant try the Redken Hot Sets. Finish with fingering thru with a shine spray. Spray the product on your hands %26amp; rub together.
